I tell you, love your enemy.
Pray for those who persecute you.
“Why? How can I love an enemy?
Are they not against me?”
Because your enemy is lost and blind. They do not and cannot see the truth. If they could see, they would be a friend and not an enemy.
So pray for them, that they might be given eyes to see. I say, love your enemy.
“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
